(AP) -- Budget problems continue to force reduced hours at the Library of Michigan. The library near the state Capitol in Lansing will be closed to the public on Saturdays starting in January. The public will be allowed to visit the building Monday through Friday.

The library already is closed to the public on Sundays. A posting on the library's website says the cuts are coming because of "significant reductions" in funding and staffing.

The library and most other state programs have dealt with budget cuts over the past several years because of reduced tax revenues to state government during the economic downturn.
