(AP) -- The Michigan National Guard is putting out the welcome mat for 13 soldiers from Lansing who are set to return home from Afghanistan. A homecoming ceremony is scheduled to take place Friday afternoon on the drill floor of the Joint Forces Headquarters in Lansing.
Michigan National Guard director Maj. Gen. Thomas Cutler is to speak at the ceremony before dismissing the soldiers to enjoy the holidays.
The soldiers are returning from a 12-month tour of duty in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. They're assigned to the third Operational Mentor and Liaison Team, which was formed in Lansing.
