(AP) -- DETROIT - Authorities say a punishing winter-style storm stretching across Michigan's Lower Peninsula was responsible for the deaths of at least six people.

WWJ-AM, The Oakland Press and The Macomb Daily report four Detroit-area men died while clearing snow Sunday with a shovel or snow blower.

Two of the men - a 76-year-old and 62-year-old - died at Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital in Commerce Township. The Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office reported the death of a 49-year-old man, and a 54-year-old Warren man died at St. John Oakland Hospital.

Authorities say an 80-year-old man was killed Sunday when his vehicle rolled over in Montcalm County, while a 75-year-old woman died in a Livingston County crash.

About 7 inches fell in suburban Detroit. Areas around southern Lake Michigan got as much as 20 inches.
