Delta College has gone extreme with a new hands-on model wind turbine.
The model is an actual-sized, complete 300kW turbine purchased with a grant.
The blades are 46-feet long and the tower is 98-feet tall.
It will not be constructed, but students will be able to work on sections of it inside a lab.
"I think it's going to give them the opportunity that when they walk on and try to provide value to companies they're going to walk into the company the first day and he able to contribute," said Matthew Eyre, assistant professor of Wind Turbine Technology at Delta. "They're going to know how wind turbines go together from a fundamental basis of building them, constructing them and knowing how they provide energy the way they do."
Delta is working on offering other alternative energy programs, including solar technology.
