Green technology likely to take center stage

The North American International Auto Show is still several weeks away, but automotive analysts are pontificating the likely big winners for such prestigious awards like North American Car of the Year.  NBC25 car guy, Dr. Tim Nash of Northwood University said the green candidates will lead the pack.

”The odd on favorite for “Car of the Year” is probably the Chevy Volt.  The Nissan Leaf is probably a close second,” Nash said.

He also predicts a slightly more glitzy showcase this year, but still not as glamorous as the shows about five years ago.  The Big Three automakers scaled down their presentations in the last couple of years as General Motors and Chrysler looked for federal bailout dollars, and the economy took a turn for the worst.

January’s auto show runs form the 10th to the 23rd of the month.
