Every time you turn on the faucet Erick Skaff wants you to remember how lucky you are.
After all, one in eight people world wide don’t have access to safe drinking water.
“We don’t realize sometimes what is happening in other parts of the world,” said Skaff as he took a break from swim practice at Carman Ainsworth High School for an interview.
He’s speaking out and taking action in an effort to help the situation. He’s created an organization called Swim4Water. Through this organization he is collecting pledges. In return for the donations, on December 30th from 1:00-7:00 p.m. he plans to swim ten miles at the high school pool.
Several friends from school have joined in the effort. They plan to swim along with him.
Skaff says all money raised will go to water.org. The organization helps build and maintain wells where they are most needed.
"I feel like God has called me to do this. I've realized the blessings in my life of clean water, and I just want to use my gifts to bring glory to him," said Skaff.
