Frankenmuth--The Frankenmuth Police Department has made an arrest in the reported vandalism which occurred at Bronners CHRISTmas Wonderland on Christmas morning. The incident was initially reported to Frankenmuth Police by a family member Christmas morning around 8:00am. A number of decorations throughout the property were displaced as well as heavily damaged. Estimates on damages to the 75+ figurines have been estimated at 40,000 dollars.
After this incident was reported to the media, tips started flowing into the Frankenmuth Police Department. Over the weekend FPD investigators received a tip which led investigators to Genesee Township located 30 miles south of Frankenmuth in Genesee County. Investigator(s) worked with the Genesee Township authorities in an attempt to locate a “person of interest” which had been named in the “tip”. As of Monday evening, this unnamed person had not been located.
Frankenmuth Police Authorities were notified early Tuesday morning (12.28.2010) the “person of interest” had been located. A Frankenmuth Detective was sent to Genesee Township where interviews were conducted and additional evidence collected.
After a three day long investigation, Frankenmuth Police have arrested four subjects in connection with the Christmas morning vandalism of Bronners CHRISTmas Wonderland. At this time all suspects are cooperating with investigators. One subject is still outstanding but arrangements have been made for him to turn himself in. It is still unknown as to the motive for this crime.
Suspects are identified as being all males from the Genesee Township area ranging in ages from 17 to 21. Four suspects are currently lodged at the Saginaw County Jail where they will be held until the case can be reviewed by the Saginaw County Prosecutors Office. Agencies assisting in this investigation were the Genesee Township Police Department and the Michigan State Police K-9 team (Trooper Steve Escott and “Beck”) from the Bridgeport State Police Post.
