FLINT TOWNSHIP -- Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton has charged five Genesee County men with ethnic intimidation and felonious assault after they allegedly harassed an African-American family in Flint Township.
Leyton said the men pulled up in a van and parked in an adjacent lot next to the Hooters restaurant on Miller Road where the family was dining. Authorities say the men then targeted one man who came to pick up his relatives.
That man was victimized by racial epithets while two of the suspects claimed to have guns. Another man pulled a knife, according to police.
“The language was deplorable,” Leyton said. “The threats were clear.”
Leyton’s office identified the suspects as Flint residents Earl Arnold and James Morales; Jeremy Brown and Americo Villarreal of Mount Morris, and Jerry King. It is not clear where King is from. Authorities say the men have been arraigned and have a court date on January 12th.
