SAGINAW CO. -- Sheriff William L. Federspiel reports there has been a rash of larcenies in Saginaw County.
From October to December 2010, the Saginaw County Sheriff’s Office reported 45 larceny cases. These larcenies included residence, non- residence, vehicle, and property in vehicle thefts.
The western areas of the County appear to have the highest amount of theft; these areas including: Swan Creek Township, Chesaning, St, Charles, Merrill, and Richland. The numbers of larcenies reported by the Saginaw County Sheriff’s Office are as follows:
Swan Creek TWP: 8
Merrill Village: 4
James TWP: 2
Spaulding TWP: 1
Chesaning TWP: 7
Fremont TWP: 4
Lakefield TWP: 1
Kochville TWP: 6
Taymouth TWP: 2
Marion TWP: 1
Richland TWP: 4
Zilwaukee TWP: 2
Saginaw TWP: 1
Richland Township Police Department also reported an additional 6 larceny instances, on top of the seven reported by the Saginaw County Sheriff’s Office. The Chesaning Police Department recorded an additional 12 larceny reports, and the St. Charles Police Department reported another 7 larcenies. These added number of larceny reports bring the total number of larcenies up to 70.
The Saginaw County Sheriff’s Office hopes that by spreading knowledge of these larcenies to the citizens of Saginaw County, the citizens can become more aware and educated of these crimes occurring around them.
The Saginaw County Sheriff’s Office also wants to encourage more citizens to report any suspicious behavior that they see to 911.
