The leader of one of MidMichigan's largest companies puts his thoughts on paper with hopes of making the region more prosperous.
The book is entitled "Make It In America: The Case for Re-inventing the Economy."
It's a book about re-vitalizing the manufacturing sector in the United States.
Dow CEO Andrew Liveris authored the book, saying the company rebounded quickly from the global recession with partnerships like Dow-Kokam, which is creating the lithium ion battery. He also cites the powerhouse solar shingle.
Dow spokesperson Bob Plishka says, "Some of the points the book actually makes dove-tail in precisely with the type of activity that's been going on right here in MidMichigan. The public/private partnership as we call it, which is the participation of local, state, and federal officials to support create innovation and bring manufacturing jobs back to the region has been essential."
Proceeds of the book will go to benefit the Dow Chemical Company Foundation, which funds philanthropic ventures.
