NBC25 is proud to say one of its own pulled off a three-peat, again winning the world-class, double-block ice sculpting competition at Zehnder’s Snowfest this year.
NBC25 graphic artist Scott Kallas, and teammates Gordon Oberman and Al Foster, won the competition with their sculpture of an eagle that caught a fish with its talons.
The group said it enjoys winning, but it is not what motivates them to compete. They are in the competition because they enjoy creating, the camaraderie and the crowds. They love to hear comments of admiration as folks walk by during the festival.
The team also won the competition’s People’s Choice Award.
The sculptures remain on display outside Zehnder’s in Frankenmuth.
