The winter storm is revealing the kindness of others.
Hundreds of winter boots have been delivered to people in MidMichigan who can't afford them.
They came in two by two, pairs of boots for those who can't afford them.
Kim Dobson was a recipient of new boots.
"I had mentioned to a gentleman that my old boots were leaking," Dobson said. "My feet were getting wet and 10 minutes later he came back with a brand new pair of boots for me. That was amazing."
Without the kindness of the folks from Health Alliance Plan, there would be many cold feet across MidMichigan, especially small feet.
"The fastest growing segment of homeless is children right now. It's over 40 percent in our area," says Anita Moliterno, HAP general manager.
HAP made deliveries to homeless shelters in Bay City, Saginaw, Lapeer, Port Huron and Flint.
It's the third year HAP has been collecting and distributing boots. The first year it started with 50 boots. The second year, 160 boots, and now this year, nearly 700."
"With the storm coming, people need boots. They love to get the boots. We love to give them out, and we love giving back to the community," says Shyron Thompson of Carriage Town Ministries.
Those boots can be pricey making programs like these well worth the effort.
The Health Alliance Plan "Boots for Kids" program collects items from Nov. 1 through Jan. 31.
It goes past Christmas because volunteers say the cold, the snow, and the need don't stop at the end of the year.
