FLINT TOWNSHIP -- It’s Super Bowl Sunday.
That means thousands of homes across Mid-Michigan are filled with the delicious smell of pizza pies.
NBC25 found out the amount of teamwork needed to make that happen.
Before you even got up this morning...
“I got a triple espresso,” said Joe Buffa, the Owner of Happy’s Pizza.
The owner of Happy's Pizza in Flint Township was busy getting ready with his staff for their busiest day of the year.
“You get your turkey on Thanksgiving and pizza for the Super Bowl,” said Buffa.
For hours Nyishia Louden folds hundreds of pizza boxes.
“It’s easy, I can do it in my sleep now,” said Louden, who is the cashier at Happy’s Pizza.
Aaron Bass will knead 900 dough rolls, earning him the nickname “Dough Boy.”
“A lot of people call me that, people in the streets too,” said Bass.
And Nick Leonard will drive close to a hundred miles delivering food.
“The faster you get there, I assume the bigger the tips, so better service, hotter food,” said Leonard.
Happy's Pizza is hoping to sell 500 pizzas Sunday, that's three times the amount of a typical Sunday, and the owner says its teamwork, just like the Super Bowl, that will make it happen.
“For working hard all day we plan on giving them a little extra, and put some money in our pockets and keep the bills paid,” said Buffa.
Benny Soave has been making pizzas with his father here for years.
“We communicate well, we don't really argue, what ever needs to be done, we just do it,” said Soave.
Teamwork means success at Happy's, but there is one thing they don't agree on.
“I hope the Steelers win,” said Buffa.
“The Packers, I got a friend from high school that plays for them, so let’s go Green Bay,” said Soave.
According to one survey, Super Bowl Sunday is the number two food consumption day of the year, with pizza as the post popular choice for delivered food.
