Verizon Wireless stores across the country are celebrating Thursday, as the Apple iPhone has finally hit store shelves.
But, reports from around the nation say the number of customers waiting in line to get their hands on the device that Apple says, “changes everything” was fewer than expected.
Previously, the iPhone could only be purchased with service through AT&T. According to a New York Times report, last year alone, AT&T activated 15.2 million iPhones.
The phone’s “Face time,” or the ability to see live video of the person on the other line, is one of the device’s most unique features. The phone also has an HD touch screen, and unlimited access to the apple “app store.”
With either service provider, the cost of a 16GB iPhone is $199; a 32GB version will cost customers $299.
