General Motors hourly employees are receiving a bigger bonus than they thought.

The company notified workers Monday morning that their final profit sharing check would amount to $4,790.  This total is over $1700 more than was originally estimated.

The full profit share total will be seen on hourly employees' March 25th paycheck.  However, it is considered taxable income.

The profit comes as a shock to many, as the previously ailing automaker makes a come-back from bankruptcy.  The Detroit based company says 2010 wasthe most profitable year since 2004, earning a total of $4.7 billion.

GM says profits are thanks to a returning U.S. and global auto market.
