Once again a hearing scheduled to address motions in the case of the Argentine Township mother accused of killing her 4-year-old has been delayed.
The hearing set originally for Monday was adjourned until Friday. It was then cancelled Friday and not rescheduled.
Attorneys could not be reached for comment.
Corrine Baker is accused of child abuse and second degree murder in connection with the death of her 4-year-old son Dominick Calhoun.
Police say she did not do enough to save the little boy from her boyfriend Brandon Hayes.
Hayes also faces numerous charges including child abuse, torture, and murder. Police say he beat the little boy for days, after the little boy wet himself on a couch.
The attorney for Baker has filed several motions.
“Corrine Baker cannot get a fair trial here in Genesee County,” he said last week.
Meiers has filed for a change of venue, saying too many people have been closely following this emotional case. He says he doesn’t believe an unbiased jury can be found in Genesee County.
Another motion filed asks that statements Baker allegedly gave to police be thrown out as evidence.
A third motion requests that the court appoint an expert on battered woman syndrome to look at Corrine’s case.
The hearing to decide all of these issues has not yet been rescheduled in Genesee County Circuit Court.
Both Baker and Hayes are scheduled to go before a judge at the end of this month for trial.
