Family and friends of Sgt. Kristopher Gould gathered to say their final farewells in Carrollton Township Saturday.

The 25-year-old Frankenlust Township native, and Valley Lutheran High School graduate, died while serving in the army on February 27th. The military says enemy forces killed him when they bombed his unit in Afghanistan.

Hundreds of Patriot Guard members lined the streets outside the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Carrollton Township during his funeral. They came from across the state to make sure the young man’s family knows his sacrifice is appreciated.

“He’s one of our American heroes,” said Patriot Guard Ride Captain Bill Schwalm.
