U.S. stocks plunge to lowest numbers in 2011, Yen gains momentum

The crisis is Japan continues to wreak havoc on Wall Street.

Wednesday, The Dow dropped to -242.12 (11,613.30).  Nasdaq sank to -50.51 (2,616.82), and the S&P 500 closed out at -24.99 (1,256.88).

CNN Money reports  that, “the increasingly desperate situation at Japan's nuclear plants is keeping investors on edge.”  

While the Japanese and American economies fight to revive, Marketwatch.com reports the Yen soared Wednesday. The report says, “the Yen saw an additional boost from expectations that Japanese firms will repatriate funds to pay for claims, but after seeing a spike immediately after the Federal Reserve offered more upbeat comments on the economy, the U.S. dollar index was little changed.”
