A doctor with Mid-Michigan ties, who performs abortions, is being sued by the State of Michigan.

Dr. Alberto Hodari owns the Feminine Health Care Clinic on Saginaw Street in Flint. He also owns the Woman-Care of Southfield facility, which Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette and the Department of Community Health says has been operating without a license.

John Sellek, a spokesperson for Schuette says, "Under state law, if you have an abortion clinic which more than 50% of the patients seen are abortions, they have to meet a higher level of scrutiny to ensure the health and safety of clients is protected."

The lawsuit alleges the facility does not comply with the state fire code.

The state is pushing to shut it down.

NBC25 contacted the clinic and was told the doctor was unavailable.
