but more rain is on the way
Parts of SW Michigan saw egg-sized hail. The largest reported in mid-Michigan was quarter-sized in parts of Bay and Midland counties yesterday evening.

MID-MICHIGAN -- Severe weather hit mid-Michigan yesterday, but not very hard. Storms rolled thought the region, in some places dumping buckets of rainfall in a short period of time. Mt. Pleasant, for example, picked up just under 2’ of rain from two separate thunderstorms that hit within a couple of hours of each other. This prompted a flood advisory for the already high running Chippewa River below Mt. Pleasant, and a flood warning for the Rifle River near Sterling. Both remain in effect today. On the other side of the coin, Flint Bishop Airport recorded a paltry .07” of rainfall, as heavy thunderstorms missed.
At 8:40pm and 8:42pm Tornado warnings were issued for Midland and Bay county due to tornado vortex signatures that were appearing on radar at the National Weather Service in White Lake, MI. Thankfully, these tornadoes never materialized, but the cell that prompted both warnings did produce 1” hail, and there were reports of it in three different locations in the two counties.
More rain is expected today, and some areas will see over an inch, maybe well over, through Thurdsay morning. Because of this, minor flooding of low lying areas is still possible and rivers and creeks will have to be watched, although the NBC 25 weather team is not expecting major flooding at this time.
