LANSING -- Michigan lawmakers are looking at new policies aimed at stopping school bullying.

According to the Associate Press, the Senate Judiciary Committee approved an anti-bullying proposal Tuesday.

While the measure is the right step forward, some argue it’s not tough enough. There’s discussion over the language motivation and characteristics of victims.

According the AP, some claim that, “it's an attempt by gay rights activists and others to carve out special protections.”  Others say the bill will not be effective in preventing bullying in school.

What do you think? Is this just an attempt by activists? Do you think it will be effective? Leave us your comments below.
