LANSING -- Governor Snyder signs legislation Monday that makes a technical fix to the Sunday morning liquor law for folks.
Due to a drafting oversight, local governments were not given the option to opt out of Sunday morning liquor sales.
This forced communities to choose between allowing liquor sales all day Sunday and not allowing it to be sold at all.
The governor said the change allows local leaders to decide what is best for their community.
The state's new law allowing Sunday morning liquor sales began late last year.
Businesses and restaurants can now sell and serve liquor starting at 7 a.m.
Previous law banned Sunday alcohol sales from 2 a.m. until noon.
