Jack Kevorkian, the man who has been known as “Dr. Death” for assisting hundreds of people commit suicide, is in a Michigan hospital with pneumonia and kidney problems.

The Associated Press reports 82-year-old Kevorkian was admitted to the Beaumont Hospital on Wednesday night. He’s expected to say there several days.

Lawyer Mayer Morganroth tells the AP that Kevorkian’s health is not in grave danger, but that he did need to be treated for the issues.

Kevorkian served eight years in prison for second-degree murder. He was released in 2007. He says he assisted in at least 130 suicides. The story received national attention, as the debate raged over whether assisted suicide should be considered homicide.
