FLINT, MI -- As of May 19th, Flint has received 14.53 inches of rainfall for the 2011 spring season.  This smashes the old record of 13.80 set in 1945.  This was actually 2 years before Flint's historic flood of 1947.  Flint's climate records date back to 1921.  After the wettest March on record and the 5th wettest April, Flint is experiencing the 11th wettest May up until this point.

Flint has had 38 days of measurable precipitation in the spring of 2011 and their average is 34 days.  Saginaw has had 37 days of measurable precipitation in the spring of 2011 and their average is 33 days.

It has been a very wet spring for all of Southeast Michigan.  The spring season spans from March 1 to May 31.  The three main climate sites across Southeast Michigan are already reaching the top twenty wettest springs on record.  Saginaw has received 10.34" of rainfall.  While this is above average, it's only the 20th wettest spring of all time to this date.  However, with showers and thunderstorms periodically in the forecast through the end of May, that number is expected to climb.  For data purposes, "meteorological spring" is considered to be the months of March, April and May, even though it doesn't officially end until late June.
