SAGINAW CO. -- Update: May 20, 6pm

NBC25 has learned new details about the search for 32-year-old Dorita Adams of Saginaw.  Police say she is a drug addict and dangerous to her child, three-month-old D’Quayvion Dayshon Shephard.

Police say she took her son from Covenant Healthcare where he was born in February and they haven’t been seen since.  Child Protective Services tried to remove Shephard from the mother and NBC25 has learned Adams has had previous children removed by CPS before.  Police believe she may be on the run with her partner, though they think she’s still in the Saginaw area.

NBC25 stopped by the last known address where she lived, on the 2400 block of Thayer Street.  Neighbors tell us they aren’t sure of her whereabouts.  Meanwhile the Michigan State Fugitive Team is joining Saginaw Police in the search.  NBC25 will keep you updated.

Saginaw Police  are searching for a woman who officials say kidnapped her own infant.

Saginaw Police Detective Sgt. Joseph Dutoi tells NBC25, Dorita Adams gave birth to the child in February.  The woman has a history of drug abuse, and Child Protective Services was going to take the child from the woman.  The child was born with drugs in his system.

The woman managed to escape the hospital, and has been on the run ever since.

Now, Saginaw Police have obtained a warrant for parental kidnapping, and are searching for Adams.  They believe she is still in the Saginaw County area.

NBC25’s Dave Kinchen is heading to Saginaw now, and will have a full report with photographs of Dorita Adams on NBC25 News at 6:00pm.

In the meantime, anyone with information on Adams’ whereabouts is asked to call Saginaw Police at 989-759-1288.
