The mayor says police cuts are not to blame

FLINT -- The FBI says Detroit and Flint are the two most violent cities in the country.

The FBI crime study looked at per capita crime rates in cities with more than 100,000 residents, and ranked them.

Detroit had nearly 17,000 violent crimes last year.

Flint had more than 2,400 violent crimes.

Flint Mayor Dayne Walling says cuts in police are not to blame, that these are not random crimes.

“There will never be enough police to sit at every kitchen table and prevent these crimes. This is a reminder of how hard we need to work to keep our neighborhoods safe,” said Flint Mayor Dayne Walling.

Do you agree with Mayor Walling; are cuts in public safety not to blame for these crime statistics?
