Thursday, Adam's father Zenos Dupuis says the school superintendent has agreed to announce Adam's name during June 1st's graduation at the Saginaw Arts and Sciences Academy.

Dupuis also says on the June 15th school board meeting Adam will be honored with a certificate of completion along with others who have passed away and did not complete all the credits. That school board meeting will be at 7PM.

Saginaw-- A local father who's waited for four years for his son's graduation is told he won't get it.

His son died in a house fire on this date in 2007. He would have graduated next week.

The school says it does not want to minimize this family's loss, but that the boy did not complete the course work and therefore will not get a diploma.

May 24, 2007, six people died in a house fire at Michigan and Waller in Saginaw.

One of the victims was Adam Dupuis, an eighth grader at the Saginaw Arts and Sciences Academy.

"I'd like to be able to hear my son's name being called just like any parent would," says Zenos Dupuis, Adam's father. Zenos says hearing his son's name during the graduation service would give him closure.

However, the school says since Adam did not complete all of the high school course work it can not give him a degree.

The school tells NBC25 it has offered to honor Adam during a school board meeting.

That's not good enough for his father.

"She basically said she didn't want it to turn into a memorial service. Well, I'm not asking SASA to turn it into a memorial service, I'm asking them to give me the same consideration and courtesy as the next parent," says Zenos.

Adam's father says he feels slighted because he sold memorial bracelets and held other fundraisers to raise money for scholarships for those in Adam's class. He believes he's owed something from Adam's graduating class to put in his son's cabinet for a keepsake and closure.

"I'm feeling I'm being just swept under the rug and basically it's telling me that my son isn't as important as the rest of these children because he's gone and I don't think that's right," says Zenos.

The home where Adam died has since been rebuilt, but his father says there's still a missing piece in his heart.

Zenos says he purchased a cap and gown at the school Monday for his son.

He says one way or another his son will be honored.

The school says it has previously given diplomas to those who have passed away as long as the student had completed the course work.
