NBC25 put out the call and MidMichigan responded to help those in Joplin, Missouri.

It started with a few tables of donated items and ended with a semi-truck full of supplies.

A large pile of donated items represent a load of love in the gymnasium of the Community Church of God in Clio.

Items like toothbrushes, clothes, bedding, and personal items have been collected since Monday to help those in Joplin, Missouri.

"My heart is overwhelmed that I have a part in this," says Pam Lotter, director of Clio Area Christian Childcare housed inside the Community Church of God.

Lotter says even she did not plan the effort to get this big. "I was thinking I was going to fill a one ton truck with a flat bed and God said, 'No, it's going to be a semi.'"

That answer to prayer arrived Friday afternoon from Duro-Last Roofing in Saginaw after hearing about the story.

"Our director of accounting Debbie Bierlein saw the story on channel 25," says Fred Sitter, communications director of Duro-Last Roofing.

Immediately, the company secured a semi, fuel and all, to make the trip.

Duro-Last employees also donated items.

"Some people might view this as coincidence, that Debbie saw this story on NBC25 yesterday, but some of us view it as more providential than coincidental," says Sitter.

More than the pile in the gymnasium will be taken down to Missouri. There will be one stop the semi will make in Bryant, OH, to pick up a ton of diapers, literally 2,000 pounds worth, and 1,000 rolls of toilet paper.

Memorial Day weekend, instead of celebrating locally, volunteers will be spreading cheer down south.

"I couldn't ask for a better way to spend my time this holiday," says Lotter.

In addition to Duro-Last's semi-truck, another semi has been donated out of Midland for another trip.
