The National Weather Service has confirmed that a tornado touched down in Shiawassee county last night. It caused severe damage for residents living in Perry. Storm reports were sprayed all across southern Michigan, including 70 and 80 mph winds, hail, several funnel cloud spotting and a confirmed tornado touchdown.
Just after 5pm Sunday evening, tornado sirens rang though much of the state. Residents of Perry were faced with almost every element of mother nature's fury, including an EF1 tornado.
Estimated winds were between 90 and 95 m.p.h. The tornado touched down near Lovejoy and Locke roads and ended near Beard just past M-52. It left behind a path approximately 2 and a half miles long and 100 yards wide.
