DETROIT -- The U.S. Government now wants practically silent electric vehicles to have some noise, to help protect the blind.  In light of the new proposed regulations, Ford is asking fans to choose which sound they want.

The National Federation of the Blind  reports that the blind community and guide dogs rely on the sound of vehicles in order to safely cross streets.  However, with the new gas-less technology, cars are no longer emitting as loud of a noise, and thus making it difficult for the blind to know whether or not a vehicle is on coming.

So, Ford has decided to do something that’s never been done before: let YOU choose what sound you’d like for their new eco-friendly Ford Electric vehicle, that’s scheduled to debut in 2012.

Check out the sounds below, and vote on our poll for which one you’d like to hear.
