LAKE HURON -- A Cessna 150 en route from Gouverneur, New York to Eau Claire, Wisconsin has crashed off the coast of Harbor Beach.
Emergency agencies including the U.S. Coast Guard and Sanilac County Sheriff's Department continue to search for the plane, which may have gone into the water four or five miles off shore.
A dispatcher from the Coast Guard's Harbor Beach Station tells NBC25 that a USCG boat was sent to help with the search, around 9:15 p.m. Tuesday.
The station also put out a notice to mariners to watch for a Cessna 150 wreckage and one person.
NBC25 weather spotter Captain Janice Deaton of J-Lyn Charters, out of Harbor Beach, tells us the water is close to 190 feet deep at the distance from shore.
