Michigan State University expects its largest and most geographically diverse freshman class in its history this fall.
It's preparing for 7,800 freshman Spartans.
The previous record number was nearly 400 fewer students in 2004.
School leaders say the growth comes from a slight increase of in-state students and a much higher number of out-of-state students including some from Brazil, India, Turkey, Vietnam, Nigeria and the Dominican Republic.
