BAY CITY -- The new Bay City Michigan State Police Post was set fire Sunday, and now authorities believe it was arson.
State Police say the mobile office, located on the construction site on W. Salzburg Road in Williams Township, began to blaze around 12:17 a.m. Several 911 calls came in to dispatch, reporting the flames.
The Auburn Williams Fire Department arrived and found that the scene was fully engulfed.
The Fire Marshall Division later investigated, and determined that the blaze was set intentionally.
Witnesses, who called 911, said a man was seen fleeing the scene. He’s described as a white man in his mid 20’s.
The Associated Press reports the entire renovation project is expected to cost around $3.7 million.
