Football season is around the corner, and that means High School teams around the country are gearing up, preparing for the big games ahead.

But, along with the hard hits often come injuries that can be very severe and/or have long lasting consequences.

An organization called Stop Sports Injuries offers some tips to avoid being benched due to injuries this season.

They say football players should have pre-season health/wellness evaluations, be sure to warm up and cool down properly, stay hydrated, wear properly fitted protective gear, and tackle with their head up instead of leading with their head.

The group's website offers tips, advice, and more information on football and many other sports. You can find that information by clicking here.

In the meantime, we want to know what precaution you take to prevent your child from suffering a sports injury. Leave us your comments below.
