Father kills baby's mother and is still awarded custody, but now the child is missing

DETROIT -- A 4-month-old baby is missing after a custody hearing fight in Detroit.

NBC25’s sister station, WDIV-TV, reports little Evelyn Baley Daniel vanished Thursday.

Her father, Damon Daniel, has admitted to police that he shot and killed her mother, 26-year-old Ebony Gaines.  The Wayne County Prosecutor’s office has ruled that the shooting was in self defense.

Thursday, both sides of the infant’s family went to court to fight for custody.  The judge awarded Daniel full custody, but when they went to get the child she was gone.

Both sides of the family are blaming each other, but no one seems to really know where the little girl is now. You can watch interviews with both sides of the family on the case by clicking here. 

If anyone sees the baby or has information on here whereabouts, they’re asked to call police immediately.
