UNION TWP. -- A 19-year-old Grand Rapids man was crossing the street in Isabella County when he was struck by a driver, who then fled the scene.

The Sheriff’s Department reports the incident happened around 2:12 a.m. on E. Bluegrass Road in Union Township.

The pedestrian was crossing with a group of people, when an SUV crashed into him.  The driver of the SUV slowed down briefly, but didn’t stop to help.

The victim was unconscious when deputies arrived, but later regained consciousness.  He was taken to Central Michigan Community Hospital and then later transferred to Covenant Hospital in Saginaw.  The extent of his injuries are not known at this time.

Authorities believe alcohol was a factor in this incident.

Anyone with information on this hit and run is asked to call the Sheriff’s Department at 989-772-5911.
