If you own one of these vehicles, you might want to keep it locked in your garage, and be extra mindful of locking the doors.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has released the “top list of highest insurance claims for theft.”
Topping the list is the 2007-09 Cadillac Escalade luxury SUV, followed by the Ford F-250 crew pickup, the Infiniti G37 luxury car, and Dodge Charger with a HEMI engine.
The institute reports thefts for these cars are about 3 to 5 times more than the average vehicle, causing insurance rates on them to be much pricier than the average car.
Despite the fact that the Escalade is equipped with “standard antitheft ignition immobilizers” designed to prevent theft, thieves are by-passing that and loading them on flat-beds to haul away.
