Have you ever worked next to an employee that just seems to know exactly how to drive you crazy, or who says the worst things at the worst times? How about the “office thief?” You get to your desk in the morning, only to find your pens, sticky notes, scissors, tape, and even your lunch have vanished. It's not NBC's hit show, "The Office"- it's your real coworkers.
Forbes Woman says it’s time to stop annoying co-workers (both men and women), and to stop being an annoying co-worker yourself. They say slips like forgetting to turn your cell phone off in business meetings or ordering extra-smelly foods, while seemingly small, can add up and often lead to relationship issues between coworkers. Causing issues between coworkers can often make jobs miserable, and can lead to much bigger problems.
Not only are bad officer manners annoying, they can reduce company value. The Forbes Woman report states, “…48% of poorly treated employees have intentionally decreased their productivity and 12% say the boorish behavior compelled them to quit. Workplace rudeness costs employers an average of $50,000 per worker.”
So, if you're not the problem, but you have an annoying coworker what do you do? USA Today offers some tips on what to do if your coworkers "driving you bananas." They say be sure to pick your battles wisely. Make sure it's a big enough deal, or you could offend the person and make your life at work worse. Also, be honest. If it's something you absolutely can't live with, confront the person about it kindly, but don't call all of your group members together to gang up on them. Finally, try not to blow it out of proportion. Ask if its worth you getting upset over. You can read more about this article's suggestions by clicking here.
