Do you think the American Patriotism, felt so strongly after the terrorist attacks, has been forgotten?
“I think we’re all more patriot because of what happened…” Patrice Ford of Saginaw stated as she sat in a school classroom around just one year after America was attacked by terrorists.
During an NBC25 special, we asked a group of school children from around Mid-Michigan about how the 9/11 tragedy impacted their lives.
The reporter asked, “do you think it’s the kind of thing that maybe in time we’ll take for granted and kind of forget?” Lindsay Bacigalupo from Bay City replied, “I think that since September 11th, patriotism has definitely gotten more great and I know that in time it will probably fade away, but it will always be stronger than what it was before.”
Now, ten years after the horrific event that took the lives of thousands of men, women, and children, the patriotism rings on across the nation. Americans have not forgotten the ultimate sacrifices heroes made that day to rescue those trapped beneath the rubble or to bring down terrorist pilots, aiming the planes at buildings.
As the nation remembers, it becomes a time to reflect upon the past and mourn the ones lost during the vicious attack.
It is also a time to revisit those feelings and emotions we felt as we learned about the tragic losses.
As we revisit those memories, many have asked that we also revisit the interview NBC25 did nine years ago with the children who watched the burning images on television. Therefore, we’ve decided to upload the segment to the Connectmidmichigan Youtube channel and here below.
In the meantime, we want to know if you think the American Patriotism, felt so strongly after the terrorist attacks, has been forgotten. Leave us your comments here or on the NBC25 Facebook page.
