Meijer employees approve new contract that gives better pay and benefits

GRAND RAPIDS -- Meijer employees have agreed to a new labor contract that will improve pay and benefits. 

Oakland Press says the Grand Rapids based company and the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 951 came to the agreement this week. 

The deal will impact over 27,000 Meijer employees in Michigan and four other states.

The new contract will bump up pay for workers, give them more affordable health insurance, better paid time off, and a new 401(k) program.

The contract will take effect in March.
