The USA Today studied the impact the economic downturn has had on the American way of life, and discovered it is impacting more than one may think.
The study shows people are marrying later, having few children, choosing to live together rather than divorce, living with others, abandoning homes, carpooling, and sending their children to public schools rather than private ones. You can read the full article by clicking here.
Michigan residents have particularly felt the economic crunch. Just this week, the Census released staggering statistics. The Associated Press reports in 2010, only 1.2% of people moved into the state. The AP’s Census report also indicates that the poverty rate rose by .6 percent over the previous year, and that the number of those poverty-stricken people below the age of 18 rose from 22.5% to 23.5%.
