DAVISON -- Military wives at the VFW post in Davison are busy preparing meals and doing whatever they can to help family friends of Sgt. Nicholas Sprovtsoff.
The twenty-eight year old Davison native died in action last week in Afghanistan. These wives of veterans have already been in contact with Nick's mother.
Volunteer Carol Worvie says, " If they needed anything, that if she needed anything that I would help her anyway possible."
This death hits close to home for Carol Worvie because she has a son currently serving in Afghanistan too.
Members here at the VFW Davison are planning a memorial to honor the fallen marine.
VFW member Doug Frank says, " You know it hurts I mean you hate to hear it, its like when we lose some of our older members here."
At Sgt. Sprovtsoff's alma mater, Davison High School, former teachers and administrators remembered the marine as an outgoing athlete with strong local ties.
Davison superintendent Eric Lieske says, "His mother was a teacher here I remember Nick from the time he was little."
Though now gone, friends hear vow to remember the sacrifice he gave fighting for his country.
