Michigan could get $285 million more in next year’s budget than they expected.

The Associated Press reports the totals aren’t completed yet, but initial reports appear that the state brought in more than expected by the end of September.

NBC25’s sister station, 7&4 News, now reports that lawmakers are debating over the best place to spend the extra cash.  The options include paying off the deficit, padding the “rainy day” fund, and restoring cuts to education.

However, the Lansing State Journal reports some leaders are hesitant to decide where to spend the money until the final numbers are released in December.
