Over 50 exotic animals were on the loose in Zanesville, Ohio this week.
Police say Terry Thompson owned the Muskingum County Animal Farm. He had recently been released from jail, and was ordered to get rid of the exotic pets within 20 days of the ruling. Tuesday night, Police say he took his own life, just after opening the doors and releasing the potentially dangerous animals.
The animals on the loose included a lion, cheetah, wolf, grizzly bear, monkey, and other dangerous animals.
WNWO TV reports that all of the animals have been accounted for, many of which were shot and killed by law enforcement.
The Columbus Zoo had reportedly been attempting to tranquilize the animals, but the sheriff had ordered law enforcement to shoot-to-kill.
The sheriff defended his orders Wednesday, saying he needed to protect the people in the area.
