WALKER -- U.S. flags are waving at half staff Friday as the Michigan police officer who was hit and killed during a bank robbery police chase is laid to rest.
Walker Police Officer Trevor Slot died on October 13th when the suspects escaped from a bank robbery. Police began chasing them, and Officer Slot started putting up Stop Sticks on I-96. Police say the suspects sped through the stop sticks and hit Officer Slot. He died from the impact.
Police were able to catch the criminals.
“Officer Slot’s death is a terrible loss for the Walker community and our entire state,” stated Governor Rick Snyder. “May his family, friends, and fellow officers in the Walker Police Department find comfort knowing her performed his duties as a law enforcement officer with pride, bravery and integrity.”
A full honors funeral was planned for Friday at 1:00 p.m. at the Resurrection Life Church in Grandville.
