The Associated Press reports an investigation has revealed that the gym wall that collapsed onto Gabe Corbett had known issues for several years. A student claims the wall had been "wobbily" since 2008. Williamston High School Superintendent Narda Murphy tells the AP the school had no record of receiving information that the wall was unstable.
A teenager is dead after a cinder block wall collapsed on him in a locker room at his high school near Lansing.
Gabe Corbett, a Williamston High School student, was in a locker room after a basketball workout around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday when he hopped on the block wall and it came tumbling down on him.
He was taken by ambulance to the hospital, but didn’t survive the injuries.
While police say this is an accident, they’re working with the high school to investigate exactly what happened.
Funeral arrangements are being made with Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes.
