LANSING (AP) -- The Michigan Senate is now requiring the Pledge of Allegiance to be recited every day at public schools.

The Associated Press reports that while the bill requires it to be a part of classroom daily routine, students can’t be forced to participate.

Lawmakers who voted no on the bill said that saying the Pledge shouldn’t be mandatory.

The legislation was sponsored by Saginaw Township’s Senator Roger Kahn.

What do you think? Should the Pledge of Allegiance be required in schools? Should it be mandatory for children to say it? Vote on our poll and leave us your comments below.
