The Michigan State Police and Michigan Department of Transportation are warning about the dangers of using emergency freeway crossovers.

The two groups have worked together to post a video about the topic. The video warns about the crashes waiting to happen when unauthorized vehicles turn in to and out of these areas on freeways. You can watch it below.

"This is a serious public safety concern," said State Transportation Director Kirk T. Steudle in a press release. "Every one of the crashes that occur at these locations can be prevented."

The groups report that drivers who illegally use emergency crossovers will be ticketed and will have two points added to their driver's license.
