(AP) -- MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP) - Central Michigan University has offered its faculty union contract terms that accepts recommendations from an independent fact finder.

The school says in a release it gave the contract package Friday to the Central Michigan University Faculty Association.

Both sides received the fact finder's non-binding report last week. The report reviewed several issues, including key ones that included salary adjustments and health care benefits. The fact finder recommended the university's proposal on both of those issues.

Professors went on strike for most of Aug. 22, the first day of classes for the fall semester at the Mount Pleasant school. A judge ordered them back to work but they are still allowed to demonstrate.

The faculty group says its previous contract expired June 30 with disputes continuing over wages and other issues.
