Tuesday is opening day of firearm deer hunting season.  On opening day, NBC25 stopped by Conlee's Gas Station in Birch Run to get the latest tips for hunters. You can watch those tips in the video above.

Also on opening day, we had Meats and Moore talk about their favorite Venison cooking tips! Check it out in the video below.

Meanwhile, as hunters head out to the blinds for Deer Hunting Season, much controversy surrounds the lifted ban on baiting.

This past summer, the Natural Resource Commission voted to end the ban on baiting and feeding of whitetail deer in most of the state.  The only excepts remain in areas where bovine tuberculosis remains a significant problem.

In response to the end of the baiting ban, the Michigan Farm Bureau stated they were disappointed on the ruling.

We want to know how you feel about the baiting ban being lifted.  Leave us your comments on the NBC25 Facebook page and vote on our poll below to let us know your opinion.
